Tēnā koutou katoa, nau mai, haere mai ki Pourama
Welcome to Pourama
A unique collection of contemporary Māori forms of light, these desirable statement pieces of art and light are designed to enhance any interior.
Designed and drawn from the cultural significance and relationship between Te Ao Māori and light, they create a cultural continuity of form and function – sculptural art forms by day, light source by night.
Pourama designs are inspired by the internal light we all hold within, showcasing our unique and diverse culture through creative interpretations and cultural references of the past, present and future.
The very first glimmer of light that appeared well before the separation of Ranginui and Papatūānuku was the Hinatore, the light of the glow worm.
The Hinatore guided and gave much hope in a world of complete darkness.
With the separation of the divine parents Ranginui and Papatūānuku, Te Ao Marama, the world of light, came to be.
Our Māori spiritual traditions are rich with references to the light that exists in all creation, affirming the dynamic and subtle light we all carry within.
He pou hihiko, he pou rarama
Tiaho i roto, marama i roto
An electrifying pillar, a flaming pillar
Glowing within, enlightening within
Pourama is lighting the way in the Art of Light!
